My doctoral thesis Entropy as a tool for crystal discovery has been recognized with the Distinction 8% prize by EPFL. Each year this prize rewards the best 8% theses in each deparment. I am grateful to EPFL and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (EDMX) for this distinction! It is a great honor and pleasure!
HOW ML SIMULATES ICE NUCLEATION How does water turn into ice? The understanding of this process has long been limited because it was not well visible to the human eye. Pablo Piaggi and his team from Princeton University have now managed to simulate the process on the computer in as high an accuracy as never before. A conversation about machine learning simulations, and how the knowledge on ice formation could improve food processing and climate models. Our new paper Calculation of phase diagrams in the multithermal-multibaric ensemble published in the Journal of Chemical Physics has been chosen as Editor's Pick. The article introduces a new order parameter and uses a trick to calculate entire coexistence lines in a single molecular dynamics simulation. You can read it here .
